Representation matters.
Although you may recognize Judy from some of your favorite Blaxploitation films, she was an all around a fixture on TV and film in the 60s and 70s.
And as you see, she's fine!
She was a sociology major and activist.
Roger Ebert once spotlighted her for her performance in Three in The Attic and that critique opened more roles for her.
She played on Peyton Place from 68-69 and also had roles in Days Of Our Lives.
Representation on daytime TV.
Judy won an NAACP award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a drama for her lead role in The Young Lawyers drama series (1970).
She has appeared in Brian's Song as well as TV roles in I Dream of Jeannie, Mod Squad, That's My Mama (I loved this show), Flying Nun, Sanford and Son.
Its so important to see faces that look like us to let us know where opportunities lie.
